Bridgewater NHS health services excited to take part in Warrington Disability Awareness Day (DAD) event

Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s services will be out in force as we look forward to celebrating this year’s Warrington Disability Awareness Day (DAD) event.

Warrington Disability Awareness Day (DAD) event

The event, set to take place on Sunday 14 July, is one of the world’s largest ‘not for profit’ voluntary-led disability exhibition, held annually in a huge tented village within the grounds of Walton Hall Gardens in Warrington.

Visitors to the show can expect to find over 200 exhibitors, equipment suppliers, transport, holidays, leisure, employment, support groups and services.

Disability Awareness Day is a pan disability event which promotes a can do culture focusing on what disabled people can do throughout life and work.

Clinicians from our Drive Ability North West (DANW) and Children’s services will be on hand to offer expert advice, help and support for those in attendance.

At Drive Ability North West, our Occupational Therapists and Approved Driving Instructors support people with medical conditions, disabilities, and those affected by old age, to drive safely and maintain or regain their independence as drivers or passengers.

The service advises on other mobility options to help people live a good and independent life, such as mobility scooters and car seats and harnesses for children with disabilities or challenging behaviour.

Operational Manager Matt Bryers said:

“We are excited to be a part of this year’s impressive Disability Awareness Day event in Warrington.

“Our Occupational Therapists and Approved Driving Instructors will be in Marquee 10 and we are encouraging anyone who has a medical condition, a disability, or feel older age is affecting your ability to drive to come and see us

“We can answer any questions you may have to help you drive safely or to maintain or regain your independence as a driver or passenger.”

You can come and visit the service at the Driving Mobility stand at the event.

Governors representing communities across Halton and Warrington will also be joining their colleagues from children’s services and the Drive Ability team at this year’s DAD.

The Bridgewater governors will be on hand to answer any questions about the role of a public governor and the important role they play in the work of an NHS Foundation Trust.

Lead governor Christine Stankus, said:

“We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at this year’s Warrington Disability Awareness Day

“The event provides us with an ideal opportunity to explain about what we do and the current vacancies we have for public governors.

“The services provided by Bridgewater are invaluable to many thousands of people who live in our communities and rely on our exceptional staff to provide the care and support they need to live in their own homes.

“It is a great pleasure and privilege to serve as Lead Governor for Bridgewater.”
