Coronavirus (COVID-19) and caring for your baby

Please read this excellent information from the Lullaby Trust on caring for you baby during the outbreak.

Bosom Buddies clinics cancelled due to Covid-19

We apologise but our antenatal breastfeeding skills workshops have been temporarily suspended due to Covid-19.

We would like to suggest an alternative developed by the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) who have over 40 years experience in supporting families.

The link below will take you to a learning module, Team Baby: getting ready to breastfeed.

The module is divided into five sections:

  1. The decision to breastfeed
  2. How breastfeeding works
  3. How newborns behave
  4. What challenges can arise
  5. Where to get help.

Within each section there are articles, videos and questions to help you with your understanding. There is no pass or fail.

The aim is for you to be more informed and confident.

To access the training please follow the link:

https://abm.me.uk/breastfeeding-training/

The training is free once you have registered on the site.

General information header

In case of emergency please call 999.

If you need advice or medical treatment quickly, and you cannot wait for an appointment to see your doctor call 111.

Health Visiting Team contact numbers:

East – 01925 843868
South – 01925 867908
West – 01925 867928

In the same way that you have a named GP and dentist, all families are given a named health visitor who are involved with you and your family from late pregnancy until your child goes to school when they are transferred to the school nurse.

Health visitors see families through a minimum of 5 universal contacts from late pregnancy (for Mums-to-be that the service has been notified of), through to a developmental health review at 2-2½ years. Developmental health reviews can be completed at home or in clinic.

Please contact us at any stage if you are needing advice or support or are worried about your child’s development eg feeding, diet, behaviour, sleep, potty training, meeting milestones to name but a few, as we are the clinical experts in these areas and as a result we tailor-make a package of care which is as individual as your family is.

As part of the Healthy Child Programme, your family will be offered:

1 – Pre Birth visit

2 – Birth Visit – usually within 10-14 days of your baby’s birth

3 – 6-8 week visit

4 – 9-12 month development review

5 – 2-2.5 year development review

We will also contact all parents at 3-4 months via letter to offer support around weaning and introducing solids.
