Martyn Taylor appointed Chair of Bridgewater Community Healthcare

Martyn TaylorBridgewater Community Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of Martyn Taylor as its Chair.

This follows the news that current BCH Chair, Karen Bliss will step down from the role on 31 March 2025.

Martyn has been a Bridgewater Non-Executive Director and Senior Independent Director at the Trust for the past three years.

His appointment as Chair will start on 1 April 2025 for an initial period of 12-months.

Speaking about the opportunity to be Bridgewater Chair, Martyn said:

“Having been a non-executive director in the NHS for 10 years, I have seen firsthand the workings of both acute and community providers. Given the exciting integration programme we are embarking upon, I’m really looking forward to working closely with colleagues across both organisations to make sure that we improve care for the people we’re here to serve.

“As a local resident living in Warrington, this is a hugely important time for us. I am immensely proud of our Bridgewater community and dental services and what they achieve.

“Working in partnership with our acute colleagues, we are uniquely placed to bring about real transformational change – reimagining healthcare and caring for more people in their own homes and in their local communities, while freeing up valuable hospital capacity for those who need it.”

Before joining the NHS, Martyn spent his career in banking, including leading a risk management team across the North of England and supporting businesses facing financial challenges. Prior to this, he headed a UK team supporting customers with acquisitions, mergers and buy-outs.

The Trust wishes to extend its gratitude to Karen Bliss for the work and service she has given to Bridgewater over so many years. Karen and Martyn will work closely together to ensure a smooth handover between now and the end of March.
