Bridgewater’s safeguarding team is fully committed to make certain that there are good outcomes for adults at risk, children and young people by ensuring that their needs remain paramount and that their wishes and feelings are heard and taken into account by health professionals.
Systems and processes are in place to enable all staff to know what to do if they suspect or identify abuse or neglect of a child or young person.
The team seek to promote positive outcomes for adults at risk, children and young people by early identification of safeguarding issues and timely intervention when appropriate.
Our Safeguarding Strategy sets out the overarching values and direction of adult and children’s safeguarding and the expectations around our approach and commitment to keeping children and adults at risk, safe.

We practice Safe Recruitment
We ensure appropriate checks are made to keep patients safe when recruiting staff including Disclosure and Barring (DBS) checks and pre-employment reference checks which are managed through a robust centralised process.
Our staff are Well Informed
Policies and Guidelines for Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults at Risk are up to date, robust and easily accessible for all staff on the intranet. Our Safeguarding Training Strategy identifies which staff require which level of training and supports staff to recognise and respond to concerns about abuse and neglect.
