The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) services in Bridgewater 3 Boroughs IPC Service and Bridgewater IPC Team focus on preventing and controlling infections within the community and healthcare settings.
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is everybody’s responsibility both within our communities across all health and social care settings.
We have a strong commitment and dedication to protect all our communities and staff from avoidable infection and preventable harm.
We continue to work collaboratively with all our partners and providers to promote and work towards infection reduction in all areas of care.
This can be done by following basic IPC principles.
Key Basic Measure – Hand Hygiene
Hand hygiene remains at the top of the list to help prevent the spread of infection.
We are reminded of the importance of cleaning our hands.
Whilst it is important that you wash your hands with soap and water when they are dirty, cleaning them with alcohol gel on entering and exiting an area will help to prevent the spread of germs during your visit to a health and social care setting or an individual’s home.
Alcohol stations can be located at the entrances to most settings and all clinical areas.
Staff are expected to follow the ‘5 Moments for Hand Hygiene’.
We encourage staff to challenge their peers if they notice hand hygiene has not been performed.
