Occupational Therapy for Assistive Technology – Halton and St Helens

This page is a resource service for anyone who wants to know more about equipment for independent living.

It is for people with disabilities and their carers, professionals and other organisations.

The Independent Living Centre houses permanent displays of basic and specialist equipment that assist with independence and caring.

The Occupational Therapist is able to give advice, information and assessment for equipment, enabling people to make informed choices about the equipment they need.

The centre also holds regular Open Days throughout the year for equipment demonstrations.

These informal open days give the opportunity to try out equipment and discuss equipment needs with companies and manufacturers of equipment for independence.

The Occupational Therapist provides training for local clinicians on the assessment and provision of equipment to enable them to maintain their competence and offer their clients and patients an effective service.
