From today (Friday 24 April) we are making changes to Widnes Urgent Care Centre (UCC) to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible during the coronavirus pandemic.
Widnes UCC opening times will change to 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. The service will also move to an appointment only service. This means we will no longer routinely be accepting walk-in patients until further notice.
Anyone requiring urgent care for an illness or injury will need to call the centre on 0151 495 5000. Patients will only be offered an appointment after a telephone assessment.
Patients will be expected to attend the Widnes UCC alone with the exception of children and vulnerable adults who will be permitted to visit with one parent or carer.
People should not attend at Widnes UCC without an appointment and anyone living with a long-term condition is advised to contact their GP practice by phone or by completing the online form on the practice website (eConsult).
In line with Cheshire and Merseyside our Bridgewater Community Midwifery Service has already suspended home birth services to protect women and their babies.
We are continuing to work closely with pregnant women to ensure continuity of care and the best possible birth experience.
We have been working closely with Warrington Borough Council to strengthen our integrated Intermediate Care and Rapid Response teams through redeploying staff in order to make our health and social care teams as resilient in order to prevent admission to hospital and to support patients discharged from hospital.
We have also integrated additional services such as our community matrons so that we can test new ways of working to facilitate the delivery of safe and effective care for the complex patients who require support from our community services.
If you believe you have symptoms of Covid-19 (a new dry, persistent cough and/or high temperature) please follow the guidance on the nhs.uk website.
